Texas Electricity Broker Registration BR260201
Effective October 5, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Power Hopper websites, applications and electricity brokerage services (collectively, the “Services”). “Power Hopper,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean BJW Ventures LLC, doing business as Power Hopper.
By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
Our Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, protected and disclosed and is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
1. About Power Hopper
Power Hopper helps Texas electricity customers compare electricity plans, understand electricity costs and access enrollment opportunities.
Power Hopper is a registered electricity broker with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (“PUCT”). We are not a retail electric provider (“REP”) and do not generate, transmit, distribute or sell electricity.
Your REP supplies and bills you for electricity. Your transmission and distribution utility (“TDU”) delivers electricity, maintains the distribution system and handles outages.
Power Hopper does not represent the PUCT, ERCOT, Power to Choose, any TDU or any REP.

Affiliated Retail Electric Providers
BJW Ventures LLC has no affiliated retail electric providers.
Participating REPs may have commercial relationships with Power Hopper or the enrollment platform we use. A commercial relationship does not mean that Power Hopper and the REP are under common ownership or control.
Brokerage Services
Power Hopper may:
- identify electricity plans available for a customer’s service area;
- compare plan prices, terms and estimated costs;
- analyze electricity usage or an electricity bill when requested by the customer;
- provide recommendations based on disclosed comparison criteria;
- recommend remaining with an existing plan where appropriate; and
- connect a customer with the enrollment process for a plan the customer selects.
Power Hopper compares plans available through participating providers and enrollment partners. We do not represent that we display every electricity offer available in Texas.
Power Hopper is not the customer’s REP and does not execute an electricity contract for the customer.
Duration
There is no fixed-term residential brokerage agreement with Power Hopper.
Customers may use or stop using the Services at any time.
How We Make Money
Compensation
Residential customers do not pay Power Hopper a separate fee for using our electricity comparison Services.
If a customer enrolls in a plan through Power Hopper, Power Hopper may receive compensation from the REP, directly or through our enrollment platform or another authorized intermediary.
Power Hopper therefore provides brokerage services for compensation even though the customer does not pay us directly.
Power Hopper does not add a separate Power Hopper fee to the electricity price stated in the REP’s Electricity Facts Label.
Power Hopper’s plan-ranking methodology does not use the amount of brokerage commission paid for a plan to determine its ranking or recommendation.
Ending Brokerage Services
A customer may stop using Power Hopper at any time. No notice or cancellation process is required.
Stopping use of Power Hopper does not cancel or terminate any electricity agreement entered into with a REP.
Power Hopper Termination Fees
Power Hopper charges no fee to discontinue its brokerage Services.
A customer’s REP may separately impose an early termination fee under its electricity contract where permitted by law.
PUCT Complaints and Inquiries
Customers may contact Power Hopper using the information above with questions or complaints.
Power Hopper will promptly investigate customer complaints and advise the customer of the results.
Customers retain the right to make a formal or informal complaint to the PUCT.

Power Hopper will provide information concerning the PUCT informal complaint process within the period required by applicable PUCT rules.
Power Hopper does not require residential or small-commercial customers to resolve brokerage-service complaints through arbitration or mediation.
3. Electricity Plan Information
Plan information may originate from REPs, enrollment platforms and other authorized sources.
Electricity prices and availability can change.
Estimated monthly costs may depend on electricity usage, energy charges, TDU delivery charges, base charges, credits, thresholds, taxes and other plan conditions.
Estimates are informational and are not electricity bills or guarantees of future costs or savings.
Where Power Hopper identifies an offer as “lowest,” “best value,” “premium,” “renewable,” or similar terminology, that designation applies according to the criteria described by Power Hopper and to the plans included in the applicable comparison. It does not mean that Power Hopper has compared every plan available in Texas.
Commission amounts do not determine Power Hopper’s plan rankings or recommendations.
3A. Solar Buyback Plans
Power Hopper compares available solar buyback electricity plans using supplier documents and other available plan information.
Buyback and export terms may vary by REP, TDU, plan, system eligibility and applicable program rules.
Estimates for solar buyback plans are informational. They are not guarantees of future credits, bills, savings or export compensation.
If there is a conflict, the applicable Electricity Facts Label, Terms of Service and Your Rights as a Customer documents, and the REP’s terms, control.
Power Hopper does not guarantee the continued availability of any particular solar buyback plan or program.
3B. Business Electricity Inquiries
Business electricity inquiries are electricity brokerage inquiries.
Availability, pricing and contract terms vary by customer, usage, load profile and provider.
Submitting an inquiry does not guarantee savings, an offer or acceptance by any provider.
Final commercial terms are governed by the applicable supplier agreement.
4. Provider Documents Control the Electricity Agreement
Before completing enrollment, customers should review the REP’s applicable:
- Electricity Facts Label (“EFL”);
- Terms of Service; and
- Your Rights as a Customer disclosure.
The electricity agreement is between the customer and the REP.
The REP’s official documents govern electricity pricing, deposits, billing, cancellation, contract length, renewal, early termination and other electricity-service obligations, subject to applicable law.
If information displayed by Power Hopper conflicts with the REP’s official plan documents, the REP’s documents govern the electricity-service agreement.
5. Enrollment
Power Hopper currently uses PowerHQ as an enrollment platform.
After a customer selects a plan, Power Hopper may create or request an enrollment link that allows the customer to continue to the enrollment process for the selected plan.
Power Hopper does not enroll customers merely because they compare plans, upload a bill, enter an address or select a plan.
The customer must complete the applicable enrollment process and provide the authorization required by the REP or enrollment platform.
The REP determines whether an enrollment is accepted and may perform identity, credit or deposit checks.
Power Hopper does not collect payment-card or bank-account information as part of its current enrollment-referral process.
6. Authorization to Share Information for Enrollment
Texas law requires written authorization before an electricity broker releases proprietary client information to another person, except where otherwise permitted by law.
Before Power Hopper sends identifiable customer information to PowerHQ or another enrollment recipient, the customer will be shown an electronic authorization describing the information to be transmitted, the recipient and the purpose of the disclosure.
The authorization may accompany a button such as “Continue to PowerHQ with my details.”
Selecting that button after the authorization is displayed constitutes the customer’s electronic authorization for the specifically described disclosure.
Power Hopper maintains records reasonably sufficient to document the authorization, including the date or time of the action and the version of the authorization presented.
An enrollment authorization does not authorize Power Hopper to choose a different electricity plan, sign an electricity contract on the customer’s behalf or use the information for unrelated purposes.
7. Address Search Authorization
Power Hopper may use an address-lookup service to return address suggestions and determine the applicable electricity service territory.
When a customer submits address information through an address-search feature, the customer authorizes Power Hopper to transmit the submitted address-search information to the address-lookup provider solely for that purpose.
Power Hopper does not intentionally provide the address-lookup provider with the customer’s name, email address or telephone number as part of that request.
8. Bill Analysis
Where bill analysis is available, customers may voluntarily submit an electricity bill.
Uploading a bill authorizes Power Hopper to process the bill for the requested comparison.
Bill submission does not:
- authorize an electricity-provider switch;
- authorize enrollment;
- appoint Power Hopper as the customer’s agent; or
- authorize unrelated disclosure of the bill.
Automated bill-reading technology may make mistakes. Customers should review information extracted from their bills before relying on a comparison.
9. No Client Agency Unless Separately Authorized
Power Hopper does not act as a customer’s client agent merely because the customer uses the Services.
We will not select a REP, execute an electricity contract or exercise legal authority for a customer unless a separate written agency authorization expressly permits us to do so.
10. Unauthorized Switches and Charges
Power Hopper will not switch or cause the customer’s REP to be switched without required customer authorization.
Power Hopper will not place or cause an unauthorized charge to be placed on a customer’s electricity bill.
11. Privacy and Customer Information
Our Privacy Policy explains our information practices.
Power Hopper does not sell proprietary client information.
Power Hopper will not release proprietary client information to another person without the written authorization required by applicable Texas law, except for disclosures to the PUCT or other disclosures permitted by law.
12. Customer Communications
Power Hopper’s communications must accurately describe our services and relationships.
We do not represent that use of a broker changes the reliability of electricity delivery.
We do not represent ourselves as a REP, TDU, ERCOT, Power to Choose or the PUCT.
Providing a telephone number or email address as part of an electricity comparison or enrollment request does not by itself constitute consent to unrelated marketing messages.
Any marketing consent required by applicable law will be obtained separately.
13. Fair Treatment
Power Hopper provides brokerage services subject to applicable eligibility and market limitations and will not unlawfully discriminate in providing brokerage services.
14. Customer Responsibilities
Customers must provide information they are legally authorized to provide.
Customers may not submit another person’s bill or private account information without authorization.
Customers may not misuse, interfere with, scrape, reverse engineer or attempt unauthorized access to Power Hopper systems.
15. Third-Party Services
Power Hopper uses third parties to operate portions of the Services, including technology, hosting, address lookup and enrollment services.
Third-party services may have their own terms and privacy policies.
Once a customer leaves Power Hopper and provides information directly to an enrollment platform or REP, that organization’s terms and privacy practices govern information submitted directly to it.
15A. Referral Program
Participation in the Power Hopper Referral Program is governed by the separate Referral Program Terms, which apply in addition to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
16. Website Availability and Disclaimer
Power Hopper works to provide accurate and current electricity-plan information but cannot guarantee that information supplied by third parties will always be complete, current or error-free.
The Services are provided on an “as available” basis to the extent permitted by Texas law.
Power Hopper does not guarantee enrollment acceptance, plan availability, a specific service date or particular future savings.
Nothing in these Terms limits any customer protection or remedy that cannot lawfully be waived.
17. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Power Hopper is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from use of the website or brokerage Services.
Power Hopper is not responsible for obligations arising under the separate electricity contract between a customer and a REP.
Nothing in this section limits liability or customer rights that cannot legally be limited.
18. Intellectual Property
The Power Hopper name, branding, website designs, original software and original content are owned by BJW Ventures LLC or used under license.
REP names, trademarks and official plan documents belong to their respective owners.
19. Regulatory Records
Power Hopper maintains records and data sufficient to demonstrate compliance with applicable PUCT rules and support investigations of customer complaints.
Records required by §25.486 are retained for no less than two years unless a different retention period applies.
Records concerning PUCT informal complaints are retained for the period required by applicable PUCT rules.
20. Changes to These Terms
Power Hopper may update these Terms when our Services, legal requirements or business practices change.
The current Terms will display their effective date.
When PUCT rules require disclosure before a material change in brokerage services or their terms, Power Hopper will provide the required information before the affected services are provided.
A revised Privacy Policy or revised Terms will not substitute for a separate written authorization where Texas law requires one.
21. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by applicable federal law and the laws of Texas.
Nothing in these Terms restricts a customer’s right to use the PUCT complaint process.
Power Hopper does not require residential or small-commercial brokerage customers to submit brokerage-service disputes to mandatory arbitration or mediation.
